A Pair of Paintings

Here are two new watercolors. The theme here is to take a photo memory and make it something more; these are not just photos, or memories, but real people. I try to have the subjects "break" out of the frame.

"Memory One: Sisters"
Watercolor on paper 12" x 15"

"Memory two: Remember that summer when..."
Watercolor on paper 12" x 15"

I love the challenge of taking a cute cell phone picture, and turning it into something more; bringing a memory to life, and re-coloring what the photo didn't quite catch.

Fierce 11 x 17 watercolor on paper

"Fierce"
11 x 17 watercolor on paper

Another fun challenge; to paint a portrait with an un-interesting background: the inside of a car. I took a lot of extra time to get the details just right in order to properly frame this amazing person while strapped in her car seat. Result; capturing her inner fierceness.

"Ready to Go!" Watercolor on Paper 11 x 17

Here is a first for me, a portrait of my friend's wonderful companion Margo.  Since she brings Margo along for hiking adventures, I decided to call this "Ready to Go!"

So I can add pet portraits to my portfolio.
